1. A 19-year-old man was arrested in east London on Sunday in connection with the London Bridge attacks. Six other men are in custody in connection with last Saturday’s incident, in which eight people were killed and 48 were injured after three Islamist militants drove into pedestrians on London Bridge and stabbed people.
2. The pound has stabilised following a sharp drop last Friday morning after it became clear that Britain’s general election had returned a hung parliament. However, Sterling has failed to recover to pre-election levels.
3. US President Donald Trump’s planned state visit has been postponed after he told British Prime Minister Theresa May in a phone interview that he did not want to come until the public supported his visit, The Guardian reported. Downing Street, however, has denied that Trump’s June visit has been delayed.
4. Uber CEO Travis Kalanick may take a temporary leave of absence from the company. A person familiar with the situation told Reuters that Uber’s board met on Sunday to discuss internal policy and management changes recommended by outside attorneys hired to investigate sexual harassment and the firm’s broader culture.
5. The diplomatic crisis in the Gulf has shown no sign of easing, after the United Arab Emirates told its banks to stop dealing with major Qatari lenders. Shares in the banks fell on Sunday, with Islamic lender Masraf Al Rayan down 4%.
6. Melania and Barron Trump moved into the White House on Sunday after spending the first four months of President Donald Trump’s presidency in New York City. Melania Trump’s communications director, Stephanie Grisham, said in in a tweet: “It’s official! @FLOTUS & Barron have made the move to DC!”
7. An official count of votes for Puerto Rico’s plebiscite on Sunday showed overwhelming support for US statehood. The expected outcome is unlikely to change Puerto Rico’s label as a US territory, according to Reuters, a move that would require an act of the US Congress.
8. Uber’s long-time head of business, Emil Michael, is planning to resign as early as Monday, according to a new report from the Wall Street Journal. As one of Uber CEO Travis Kalanick’s closest confidants, Michael oversaw Uber’s broader business strategy, including partnerships and fundraising.
9. France’s Socialists could lose more than 200 seats after the country’s parliamentary election. Party boss Jean-Christophe Cambadelis said the results were “an unprecedented retreat of the left as a whole and the PS (Socialist Party) in particular.”
10. Rafel Nadal won the French Open on Sunday, beating Stan Wawrinka. Nadal is the first player ever to win one Grand Slam ten times.
